KYIV. Nov 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Slovakia’s new government on Wednesday decided to block the allocation of a new military assistance package to Ukraine worth over EUR 40 million.
“The former leadership of the Slovak Defense Ministry prepared a proposal to provide Ukraine with the 14th package of military assistance worth over EUR 40 million, but the new government of Robert Fico did not authorize the provision of this assistance on Wednesday,” Slovak television reported.
The total amount of Slovakia’s assistance to Ukraine until now exceeds EUR 670 million, the TV report said.
The new government of Slovakia, led by Robert Fico, leader of the Direction – Social Democracy party, took office in late October. Fico is known for his opposition to further weapons supply to Ukraine.
