EU foreign ministers to discuss, inter alia, situation in Ukraine

KYIV. Nov 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – On Monday, the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, among other issues, will consider the situation in Ukraine.

The materials for the council meeting, published in Brussels, report that consideration of the situation in Ukraine will start after a video address from Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. Then the subsequent discussion by EU ministers, as expected in Brussels, will focus on assistance to Kyiv from the European Union and long-term security commitments in accordance with the conclusions of the October meeting of the European Council, support for the Ukrainian Peace Formula, restrictive measures against Russia, immobilized Russian assets.

Ukraine is also mentioned in connection with the EU enlargement package published by the European Commission on November 8, which contains a recommendation to begin negotiations with Kyiv on the country’s accession to the European Union.

In addition, the EU Council will reportedly discuss the foreign policy dimension of economic security following the publication of a joint communication from the European Commission and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell on a European economic security strategy on June 20, 2023.
