Zelenskyy calls for restart and activation of Black Sea economic cooperation

KYIV. Nov 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization deserves a restart and significant activation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, speaking via video link on Thursday at the summit of the organization’s Parliamentary Assembly.

“This is the necessary format of work and we all need it. It is important to create new lines of cooperation. It is important not to remain silent about Russian aggression and limit the aggressor’s capabilities,” he said.

“It is important to use this platform of ours in order to bring closer the restoration of a real, honest world and the reintegration of the entire Black Sea into the global safe and economic space. We can provide this. But together and limiting the aggressor,” Zelenskyy said.

He said “together, during this time of full-scale war, we were able to show that cooperation between the peoples of the Black Sea region, with the support of partners, is capable of returning stability to the world food market.”

According to Zelenskyy, “we were able to provide such protection to the western part of the Black Sea, which now allows our maritime export corridors to operate. We were able to seize the initiative from Russia in the Black Sea and created such security conditions that force the aggressor to flee the western part of the water area and try to hide warships.”

“I am confident that the restoration of an honest peace and the dismantling of the Russian aggressive presence, in particular in the Black Sea, will help Georgia restore its territorial integrity and create more guarantees for the national security of all Caucasian states,” the president said.

“Overcoming Russian aggression, we protect all the peoples of the Baltic-Black Sea, Azov space and neighboring regions,” he said.
