Suspension of Russia's membership in PABSEC should end with its complete expulsion from organization – Stefanchuk

KYIV. Nov 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The suspension of the Russian Federation’s membership in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) should result in its complete exclusion from this organization, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk has said.

“The suspension of Russia’s membership in the PABSEC should result in its complete expulsion from the organization. It is time to develop an effective legal mechanism for expelling the aggressor from the ranks of the PABSEC,” the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday.

He also called on the parliaments of all PABSEC member states that have not yet recognized Russia as a terrorist country to take appropriate decisions.

At the same time, Stefanchuk said that the Black Sea should again become “a sea of trade, tourism and peace, and not a battlefield for Russia, as it is now.”

“Russia continues to destroy the transport infrastructure, which makes the functioning of international transport corridors impossible and disrupts logistics chains. Both Ukraine and other countries are experiencing the consequences,” Stefanchuk said.
