KYIV. Nov 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Kamet Steel plant of the Metinvest mining and metallurgical group, created at the facilities of the Dniprovsky Metallurgical Plant (Kamianske, Dnipropetrovsk region), as part of increasing energy security in war conditions, performed a major overhaul of turbine generator No. 4 to produce its own electricity.
According to a press release, the main repair efforts were focused on restoring the technical characteristics of the unit’s rotors.
As a result of the overhaul, the efficiency of the turbine was brought as close as possible to the design one. The generator rotor, water and oil pumps, and, in general, the entire array of auxiliary equipment were also repaired.
The head of the workshop, Yevhen Filatov, said that the plant takes into account previous experience and aims to ensure that the power supply of the enterprise is protected even in the event of a possible emergency shutdown due to enemy shelling, as happened last winter, to prevent damage or destabilization of the main metallurgical equipment due to sudden loss of power.
“The successfully completed overhaul of turbine generator No. 4 is aimed primarily at fully restoring its service life and bringing production capabilities to the specified parameters. Now, power engineers are conducting scheduled post-repair tests to identify and work out all possible comments before putting the unit into operation,” the head of the workshop was quoted by the press service.
Kamet Steel was created on the basis of PJSC Dniprovsky Coke and Chemical Plant and PJSC Dniprovsky Metallurgical Plant.
According to the report of the parent company of the Metinvest group for 2020, Metinvest B.V. (the Netherlands) fully owned Dniprovsky Coke and Chemical Plant.
