By KYIV. Nov 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Slovak government, led by Prime Minister Robert Fico, decided on Wednesday to extend the ban on imports of food from Ukraine and tighten transit rules, the Czech publication novinky.cz reported on Wednesday.
In addition to wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds, the import ban will also extend to honey, sugar, malt and soybeans. According to the proposal by Agriculture Minister Richard Takáč, the transit of all other agricultural products and food products from Ukraine will be sealed during customs clearance.
The proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture states that such measures need to be taken, among other things, due to the lack of a pan-European decision regarding Ukrainian goods.
As reported, Slovakia introduced a ban on the import of Ukrainian wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds in September.
