KYIV. Jan 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Transportation rates from the deep-water ports of Odesa continued to decline last week for Handysize and Panamax vessels, while freight rates for grain transportation from Danube river ports remained largely stable, the Ukrainian Grain Association reported, citing Atria Brokers.
According to brokers, as of December 14, rates for the transportation of 6,000 tonnes of corn by coaster from the ports of Reni and Izmail remained at the level of last week: towards the eastern coast of Greece – $32-34 per tonne, eastern Mediterranean – $38-40 per tonne, east coast of Italy – $41-43 per tonne, Israel – $43-46 per tonne, Spain $46-48 per tonne, Spanish Seville – $48-50 per tonne. Freight to Marmara decreased by $1 per tonne, to $28.
Freight rates for the transportation of corn by Handysize vessels to the Mediterranean coast of Spain decreased by $2-3 – to $38-40 per tonne, the Mediterranean coast of Egypt – by $2, to $35-36 per tonne, Italy and Tunisia – by $1-2, to $37 -39 per tonne and $40-42 per tonne, respectively.
Rates for the transportation of corn by Panamax from the ports of Odesa, Pivdenny and Chornomorsk towards China decreased by $5-6, to $70-72 per tonne, the Mediterranean coast of Spain – by $1, to $44-46 per tonne.
Delivery of corn by barge to Constanta fell in price by EUR 1-2, to EUR 20 per tonne, and sunflower delivery to Ruse/Silistra fell even more – by EUR 4, to EUR 26 per tonne, Atria Brokers said.
