Almost 70% of Georgians support govt's decision to refrain from introducing anti-Russian sanctions – poll

TBILISI. May 12 (Interfax) – The Georgian government’s decision to not introduce economic sanctions on Russia has the support of 66% of Georgian citizens, according to a poll commissioned by Imedi TV and conducted by Georgia’s GORBI public opinion and marketing agency.

As many as 29% say they disagreed with the Georgian government’s position on the issue, while 5% refused or were unable to give a clear answer to the question, the results of the poll published by the television company on Thursday showed.

The poll also contained a question about the policy of the current Georgian government on preventing Georgia from becoming involved in an armed conflict.

The poll suggests that 82% of respondents support this policy of the Georgian government, 13% disagree with it, and 5% were unable to give an unequivocal answer or refused to answer this question.

The poll was conducted from April 22 to May 7 and encompassed 2,026 respondents; the margin of error is within 2.2% and 2.9%.
