WASHINGTON. May 12 (Interfax) – Canada will amend the law regulating anti-Russian sanctions over the Ukraine situation so that it could impose restrictions on Moldovan citizens and legal entities, the press service for the Canadian prime minister said.
“These new regulations will allow Canada to sanction individuals and related entities in Moldova who are committing systematic human rights violations, endangering international peace and security, or who have engaged in significant acts of corruption,” the press service said.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with Moldovan President Maia Sandu on Thursday.
Trudeau voiced support for Moldova, which, in his words, was facing humanitarian, economic and security problems amid the Ukraine situation.
