Demand for new buses in Ukraine in April down by 12% vs to March

KYIV. May 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Primary registrations of new buses (including micro ones) in Ukraine in April fell by 11.7%, or 11 vehicles compared to March 2023, to 83 units, according to the statistics from Ukrautoprom.

According to data released on the company’s website, compared to April 2022, when 39 buses have been registered, the market has more than doubled.

Leadership in this segment is retained by Ataman buses manufactured by JSC Cherkasy Bus with 38 vehicles registered against 37 ones in March.

The second position was taken by Volkswagen buses (15 vehicles), which were not registered in March, and in April 2022 there was only one bus.

Citroen shifted to third position from second in March, sales of which fell to 12 vehicles from 23 ones in March. The fourth place was occupied by the Ukrainian buses “Etalon” produced by the corporation of the same name with the sale of nine vehicles (against seven in March).

Ford-branded buses dropped to fifth place from second a month earlier with registrations of five vehicles to 21.

In addition, in April, two domestic ZAZ buses were registered in Ukraine, and one Turkish Otokar and one Ukrainian Ruta.

Thus, in January-April 2023, the total initial registration of new buses in Ukraine amounted to 504 vehicles, that is 2.2 times more year-over-year.

Ukravtoprom also previously published information on registrations in Ukraine of new trucks and special vehicles, according to which the best result in 13 months was recorded in April some 931 vehicles, which is 16% more than in March, and almost three times more than the market in April 2022.

However, Renault brand was in the lead with 289 registered vehicles some 80.6% more than in March 2023 and 3.4 times more than April 2022. Mercedes-Benz held on to second place despite a quarter-to-March drop in sales to 69 vehicles, followed by Citroen with 64 vehicles (four cars less than in March).

Fourth place in the ranking belongs to Peugeot (62 vehicles) with an increase by 11 vehicles compared to March, and Volkswagen closes the top five of the commercial car market with 61 registered vehicles against 49 ones in March.

In total, some 3,167 trucks and special vehicles were registered in Ukraine in January-April, which is 36% more than in the same period of 2022.

As reported with reference to Ukravtoprom, in 2022, the market for new trucks and special vehicles was replenished with 6,900 new vehicles, which is 56.5% less than in 2021.

At the same time, some 322 vehicles were registered in April, and Renault, Ford and Peugeot were in the lead.
