KYIV. May 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniyenko will be on a working visit to the capital of the Republic of Lithuania – Vilnius on May 10-12, the press service of the Parliament reports.
The program of the visit provides for Korniyenko’s participation in the congress – Global parliamentary congress for the future of the world. President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda and Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen will also join the event.
The participants will discuss the role and responsibility of parliaments in shaping and managing the future of the world.
It is expected that the Congress will end with the adoption of a joint statement on inter-parliamentary cooperation on shaping the future of the world.
During the visit, Korniyenko also intends to hold a number of bilateral meetings in Lithuania with officials and parliamentarians, as well as members of interparliamentary security organizations, in particular, with President of the Interparliamentary Union Duarte Pacheco and Co-Chairman of the Ukraine-NATO Interparliamentary Council Audronius Ažubalis.
In addition, the First Deputy Speaker will take part in events dedicated to the Day of Europe and honoring the heroic struggle of the defenders of Ukrainian Mariupol.
