KYIV. Nov 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The German government on Wednesday, November 1, approved changes to the legislation on the stay of foreigners in Germany, which simplifies the employment of persons who apply for asylum in Germany or have deferred deportation, DW reports with reference to dpa.
It is assumed that persons whose deportation from Germany has been deferred should be granted a work permit. In addition, the ban on work for refugees located in primary reception centers for migrants should be lifted within six months. Previously, it was in effect for nine months.
As DW notes, the package of legislative changes, which simplifies access to the labor market for refugees, also addresses the issue of employment of Ukrainians who arrived in Germany after the start of the Russian full-scale invasion. The government is proposing steps to speed up the integration of tens of thousands of Ukrainians into the labor market. For them, the requirements for knowledge of the German language will be relaxed and additional training will be offered.
According to the latest data, DW writes, of the more than a million Ukrainians who went to Germany to escape the war, 52% are able to work. Of these, 196,700 are currently employed, but 42,000 of them are employed in jobs that are not subject to the payment of social insurance contributions.
