KYIV. May 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – As of May 11, 2023, there are 184,000 vacancies on the Unified Job Portal, the press service of the State Employment Service of Ukraine reports.
“In the professional context, most of the vacancies are submitted to the service for employment: skilled workers with tools – 22% of all vacancies presented (seamstress, electrician for the repair and maintenance of electrical equipment, repairman, plumber, electric and gas welder, baker, and electrician); equipment and machinery maintenance workers – 17% (driver, agricultural tractor driver, turner, gas station operator, excavator driver, loader driver, milling machine operator, machine operator, and crane operator); professionals – 15% (teacher, educator, pharmacist, engineer, doctor, psychologist, and labor protection engineer); workers in the sphere of trade and services – 13% (salesman, cook, security guard, waiter, social worker, hairdresser, and junior nurse),” the report says.
According to the database of vacancies of the State Employment Service, the list of demanded working professions is headed by: driver; seamstress; and seller of food/non-food products.
Among the registered unemployed, 43% have higher education, and in some large cities – up to 60% and more. At the same time, the number of unemployed among former managers, professionals and specialists was three times higher than the number of corresponding vacancies.
As of the beginning of May this year, the average salary in vacancies submitted to the employment service amounted to UAH 11,000. In particular, among workers in the sphere of trade and services – UAH 12,000, skilled workers in agriculture and forestry – UAH 8,000, skilled workers with tools – UAH 11,000, and equipment and machinery maintenance workers – UAH 12,000.
At the same time, the database of the State Employment Service contains separate job offers with relatively high wages, for example: metal and alloy caster – UAH 70,000; toolmaker – UAH 60,000; and blacksmith on hammers and presses – UAH 50,000.
