KYIV. May 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The telecom operator Kyivstar has allocated UAH 10 million for the purchase of medical equipment for the burn department of a hospital in Lviv as part of the Children’s Hope project, Kyivstar’s press service reported on Thursday.
“Currently, the company is investing UAH 10 million to purchase medical equipment at the Invincible National Rehabilitation Center to help children with burns. We invite all those who are not indifferent to support the initiative to move towards victory together,” Kyivstar B2B director Kostiantyn Vechir said on Thursday.
According to the report, annually in Ukraine 12,000 children get burns. At the same time, due to the lack of necessary conditions and medical equipment, Ukraine is forced to send the most severe children with burns abroad.
“We want to build such a burn service in Ukraine so that every child with burns can receive highly qualified effective medical care in Ukraine, and not go for such treatment outside their native state,” Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko said.
The allocated funds from the operator will be used to purchase: a burn bed, an anesthesia station, surgical instruments and laboratory equipment for analysis.
As part of the initiative, a collection for a laser against burn scars of affected children continues. Each prepaid subscriber can make a one-time transfer via SMS to 450025, join the project through a donation with a bank card on the dobro.ua website, or connect the Kyivstar TV Charitable package, from which UAH 100 will go monthly to support the project.
Kyivstar is the largest Ukrainian telecommunications operator. It provides communication and data services based on a wide range of mobile and fixed technologies.
