Liashko: We give priority to rapid restoration of medical infrastructure, primary healthcare facilities

KYIV. May 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – When restoring the medical infrastructure damaged by the aggressor, priority will be given to facilities that can be restored quickly, as well as primary healthcare facilities, Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko has said.

“Now we give priority to rapid recovery – to those medical facilities where there is minor damage so that they can be quickly restored: glazed, repaired, roofed over so that the hospital can work as it did before February 24, 2022,” he told reporters on Monday.

In addition, according to him, the priority of restoring the medical infrastructure will be the destroyed facilities of primary medical care, since “family medicine should be the basis of any medical care.”

“Where primary healthcare centers have been destroyed, we are making every effort to restore them as quickly as possible,” the minister said.

Liashko also noted that potentially there are already several projects for which “we plan to develop hospitals in the process of recovery.”

“If an object is close to the front line, where there is a possibility of shelling, there is still no full-fledged construction from scratch. We are talking about construction where the front line is already quite far away,” he said.

He clarified that there is a list of all hospitals, there are also flagship projects, there is a list of hospitals already under construction – all this is combined into a single system.
