KYIV. May 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukrainian mobile operator lifecell in January-March 2023 received UAH 515.6 million in net profit, which is 146.2% more than in January-March 2022.
As stated in the report of the parent company Turkcell on its website, lifecell’s revenue in the first quarter increased by 16.5%, to UAH 2.687 billion.
EBITDA increased by 24.2% – up to UAH 1.605 billion, EBITDA margin – by 3.7 percentage points – up to 59.7% due to lower costs for international connection, the document says.
At the same time, the company’s capital expenditures for the first three months of the year decreased by 10.3%, to UAH 638 million.
According to the report, the base of active lifecell subscribers for the specified period amounted to 8.6 million against 8.9 million a year earlier and 8.5 million in the fourth quarter of last year, while the total number of customers increased to 10.8 million from 10.2 million in the first quarter of 2022.
At the same time, the ARPU indicator (average income per user per month) among active users increased by 24.1%, to UAH 104.6 due to price correction.
Due to the war, as of March 31, 2023, about 15% of the company’s 9,000 base stations were temporarily out of service. The condition of the stations in the occupied territories is unknown, the report notes. At the same time, 92% of the company’s stores were open. Operating systems worked stably, as did the banking system, including payments.
In particular, due to improved cash flow, the company’s net debt decreased by 54% compared to the previous year. The current financial position of lifecell is sufficient to support its activities.
