KYIV. May 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Initial registrations of electric vehicles in Ukraine in April increased by almost 12% compared to March of this year, to 2,128 units, while the demand for new ones decreased by 14%, to 453 units, while for used ones, it increased by 21%, up to 675 units, according to Ukrautoprom.
As reported, in March of this year there was an increase in demand for new electric cars by 27%, while for used ones – only by 8%.
With these results, the share of new cars in total BEV registrations fell to 21% last month from 28% in March.
The top five new electric vehicles in April were formed by Volkswagen ID.4 (129 units against 149 in March), DongFeng/Honda M-NV (53 units against 100), Volkswagen ID.6 (36 units against 28), MG4 EV (26 units) and Honda e (23 units against 24).
In the used segment, the Nissan Leaf is consistently leading (366 units against 276 units in March). It is followed by Tesla Model 3 (156 vs 137), Volkswagen e-Golf (145 vs 89), Renault Zoe (113) and Volkswagen ID.4 (111 vs 146).
According to the association, in January-April 2023, a total of 7,000 electric vehicles were registered in Ukraine for the first time, including 24% new and 76% used.
Ukrainians purchased 13,600 electric vehicles in 2022, which is 1.5 times more than a year earlier, while the share of new ones increased to 17% from 14%.
