KYIV. May 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – No Ukrainian hero should be left without public attention and state recognition, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podoliak has said, while commenting on the recent presidential decree amending the procedure of awarding the Hero of Ukraine title.
“This war is not a war for territory. This is a war for the existence of our country. Every citizen who has stood up to defend the country in the face of an invader is a hero today. No Ukrainian hero should be left without public attention and state recognition. Today’s decree of President [of Ukraine Volodymyr] Zelenskyy is about this,” he said on Twitter on Friday.
Every success on the frontline, every military victory consists of thousands of human actions, feats, and sacrifices, Podoliak emphasized.
“Each of them has a name. The country should know the story of its heroes,” he said.
As reported, the president of Ukraine has amended the Statute of the title of Hero of Ukraine, according to which preliminary consideration of applications for the highest state title will be carried out by an expert group under the Commission of State Awards and Heraldry under the President.
