KYIV. May 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The fifth President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, who is at the large-scale international military-industrial exhibition DEFEAT 2023 in Athens, Greece, showed new developments that will soon strengthen the Ukrainian army and become unpleasant surprises for the enemy.
“This exhibition, which is currently taking place in Athens, is very important, with a very high level of representativeness. Dozens of heads of countries, governments, ministries of defense are here today, where the future of the world’s defense industry is actually coordinated,” Poroshenko said, the press service of the European Solidarity party reports.
One of the developments that will soon be delivered to the AFU is a new modification of the Poseidon 10 UAV, a joint project of the Poroshenko Foundation and an Israeli–American-Cypriot manufacturing company.
“It has twice the camera zoom, has twice the ‘heat’ characteristics, has 40% more battery power. It has a new complex of countering the Russian electronic warfare system, a brand-new system of communications and identifications. This is our new joint product, which was developed by the company’s specialists on the basis of almost a year of experience in operating Poseidon 10 on the battlefield,” Poroshenko explains.
He expressed hope that by mid-summer, new modifications of Poseidon 10 will be delivered to the troops.
“This is 100% of what Ukrainian soldiers, Ukrainian brigades operating with Poseidons are waiting for,” noted Poroshenko.
He also showed an unmanned sea-based complex, which has a speed of more than 150 kilometers per hour.
“This is a common product of the world–famous Leonardo company, made on their basis, armed with their weapons, it has unique stabilization characteristics, unique range characteristics. We very much hope that the Ukrainian Navy will take advantage of these proposals,” Poroshenko stressed.
“We are trying to be 2-3 steps ahead of what Russia expects from us,” he added.
Poroshenko also announced the Poseidon 12 UAV and called it “a big surprise for the Russians.”
“We do not rule out that it will have, in addition to strike capabilities, radar capabilities that will create new additional capacities for tank battalions supplied as part of the Ramstein tank coalition. Equipped with the appropriate electronics, they almost double the range of artillery of tank guns, increase efficiency and safety for tank crews,” Poroshenko explained.
“We are doing everything possible to deliver this to Ukraine as soon as possible for the offensive. I am pleased that Poseidons, which is our common program, is the highlight of this exhibition today,” he concluded.
