Port of Izmail fulfils annual plan for cargo transshipment due to agricultural goods over four months

KYIV. May 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – As of May 9, the seaport of Izmail fulfilled the annual plan for cargo transshipment in the amount of 6.187 million tonnes, which is a record figure in the entire history of the port, Head of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) Yuriy Lytvyn has said.

“The first position in the nomenclature of cargoes of the seaport of Izmail in terms of transshipment volumes is grain cargo, the second position is other agricultural products (oil, meal, sunflower), the third position is pellets,” the authority said on Facebook.

According to it, the largest volumes of cargo Authority were demonstrated by Izmail Commercial Sea Port (2.656 million tonnes), PrJSC Dunaisudoremont (1.289 million tonnes), PrJSC Dunaisudoservis (805,000 tonnes).

The port’s capacity for the export of agricultural products has increased due to the commissioning of berths for cargo operations with grain and vegetable oil by new terminal operators: Dunaisudnoservis, Dunaisudoremont, Izmail Pulp and board mill, as well as due to the construction of a new terminal by Nibulon LLC, according to USPA.

“The increase in the throughput of the seaport of Izmail, which today handles a significant share of Ukrainian exports, was facilitated by the restoration of navigation in the mouth of Bystre, the increase in the water area of Izmail port, and dredging in the port’s water area,” Lytvyn said.

He said the Danube cluster is a key alternative route for export-import logistics, which is a priority for further development for USPA.
