Rada allows one-time sale of frozen Russian, Belarusian rubles until 2025

KYIV. Nov 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Verkhovna Rada has authorized, until December 31, 2024, one-time sales of Russian and Belarusian rubles in non-cash form from accounts in resident banks that were frozen with the onset of full-scale aggression, through non-Russian and non-sanctioned banks.

Some 242 MPs voted for corresponding amendment No. 62 to law on improving state regulation of financial services markets No. 9422 adopted on Wednesday.

“When publishing the law for the second reading, consultations were held with the National Bank. The amendment concerns Ukrainian taxpayers who have accounts in rubles that are blocked. We allow them to be sold one-time, receive hryvnias and use this money for economic activities, to pay taxes,” MP Andriy Motovylovets (from the ruling Servant of the People faction) said before the vote in the Rada.
