KYIV. May 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities has granted all electricity consumers, both domestic and non-residential, the right to sell electricity generated by their own generating and/or energy storage stations to any supplier under a free contract and at a negotiated price.
“Such a decision will help expand competition in the retail electricity market and is aimed at developing distributed generation and conducting a green energy transformation,” the commission said.
The decision of the regulator is secured by the resolution On amendments to the rules of the retail electricity market, adopted at a meeting on Tuesday. The decision comes into force from the day following the day of its publication on the commission’s official website.
According to the text of the document, the electricity supplier is obliged to purchase from the consumer to whom it delivers electricity generated by the generating and/or electricity storage stations in an amount that exceeds the monthly consumption by such a consumer at free prices if an agreement is concluded between them as agreed by the parties.
