Some 1,328 people evacuated from flooding zone in Kherson region – data as of 15:30

KYIV. June 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Some 1,328 people have been evacuated by 15:30 from the flood zone after the Kakhovka hydroelectric dam was blown up, head of Kherson Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Prokudin said.

“The water continues to arrive and flood the residential buildings of Kherson region. At this hour, 71 flooded houses are known. Only in the village of Tiahynka, two bridges and 33 residential buildings were flooded. In Burhunets, three houses turned out to be in the water. In Otradokamyanka, a bridge was flooded, which complicated the access to the settlement. In the village of Kozatsky, Kakhovka district, three dozen houses were flooded,” he said on the air of the telethon on Tuesday.

“We are evacuating people from settlements that are in the flood zone. For this purpose, 50 buses and a large number of people are involved: volunteers, police personnel, State Emergency Service, military administrations. As of 15:30, 1,328 people were evacuated,” he said.

According to him, 1,200 people were helped to leave the Ostrov microdistrict to safer places alone, 43 Kherson residents were evacuated by train, three of them children, 114 people by motor transport, 15 of them children.
