KYIV. May 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stressed that if Germany wants security in Europe, Ukraine must be a member of NATO, which will prevent new wars.
“If he (Russian President Vladimir Putin) wanted real peace, he would not have started this war … This is not an evil to deal with. We have a legitimate decision by the National Security Council, taken in response to Putin’s annexation of Ukrainian lands last year, that direct negotiations with Putin are impossible,” Kuleba said in an interview with Bild.
The minister stressed that Ukraine “patiently negotiated with Russia from 2014 to 2022.”
“The first part of these negotiations was supported by Germany and France. And we were advised to make concessions here and there. Did it work? No, we are in the biggest war in Europe since World War II,” he said.
