KYIV. May 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Fourteen months after the start of full-scale military operations of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, Ukrainian retailers have resumed the operation of 88% of outlets closed in March 2022, increasing the share of open stores to 97%, according to a survey by the Association of Retailers of Ukraine.
“According to the latest survey of trade networks-members of the association, after 14 months, out of 16,700 retail facilities throughout the industry, 16,200 are already operating. The percentage of operating facilities is 97%, respectively, the share of closed one is 3%,” the association said on its website.
Thus, 88% of the outlets closed in March last year have reopened. To date, 556 stores remain closed for various reasons, compared to 4,400 compared to the specified period in 2021.
According to the association’s survey, in general, the number of open facilities grew by 26% in 14 months. Thus, the number of newly opened grocery stores rose by 19%, pharmacies by 22%, non-food retail outlets by 26%, jewelry stores by 60%, household appliances and electronics stores by 30%, clothing stores by 58%, building materials stores by 24%, filling stations by 10%, and entertainment centers by 81%.
The survey was conducted among hundreds of owners and CEOs of enterprises that are members of the Association of Retailers throughout Ukraine.
