Ukrnafta expects first agreements on joint development of fields to be signed by March 2024

KYIV. Nov 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – PJSC Ukrnafta expects to sign the first agreements on joint development of the proposed 21 fields by March 2024, company director Serghiy Koretsky has said.

“In January there will be the first results of the competitions. Agreements will be signed approximately by March 2024,” he said in an interview with Forbes Ukraine.

According to him, not only Ukrainian but also foreign companies showed interest in the competition.

“There are already foreign companies that are ready to go east under production sharing agreements. These are both large and small Western companies. Some 45 companies are already on the list of interested parties. Some 27 have signed a non-disclosure agreement and are actively studying the documentation. These are companies with experience technology and money,” Koretsky said.

According to him, Ukrnafta’s potential counterparties are ready to take on the risk of working with higher rates of return than in countries where there is no war. “But I believe that we must move. We cannot fold our arms and wait for the end of the war,” he said.

The director of Ukrnafta also said that this year the company’s investments will amount to about UAH 4-4.5 billion, mainly in production and services.

“We also have an ambitious plan for next year. But this investment plan has not yet been approved. We need to wait for approval at all levels, and we will present it. We plan all investments in production, renewal and purchase of equipment. We cannot drill at the pace of Ukrgazvydobuvannia with three Soviet rigs,” Koretsky added.
