Ukrzaliznytsia asks to suspend sending agricultural cargo to Izmail port due to queue for month

KYIV. May 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A queue of 2,168 wagons with grain cargo has formed on the railway in the direction of the port of Izmail, Deputy Director of the Department of Commercial Work at Ukrzaliznytsia Valeriy Tkachov has said.

“If possible, we ask you to refrain from shipping grain cargo in the direction of the port of Izmail (critical accumulation of wagons, the queue for unloading is about 27-36 days),” he said in Telegram.

According to Tkachov, this is due, among other things, to severe weather, caused the unloading of grain to be suspended on May 8 and 9.

According to the Ukrzaliznytsia representative, as of May 8, some 4,978 wagons were moving in the direction of Izmail port, of which 2,168 were carrying grain cargo. The average daily unloading of agricultural products in the port is 60 to 80 wagons.
