KYIV. Dec 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrzaliznytsia transported 14 million tonnes of cargo in November 2023, which is 33.8% more than in the same period in 2022 and 4% more than in October 2023, the company’s press service reported.
“It is important that, in addition to domestic transportation, exports, which are critically necessary for our country, have also begun to grow. Thanks to the work of the Ukrainian sea corridor, grain exports have also increased,” said Yevhen Liaschenko, chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia’s information, these are record figures since the beginning of the large-scale invasion.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the company transported 7.3 million tonnes of cargo domestically in November 2023, which is 19% more than in November 2022. Export transportation increased by 56.2% – to 6 million tonnes, import – by 35.4%, to 679,000 tonnes, transit – by 2.2 times, to 65,500 tonnes.
It is noted that the largest share among transported cargoes is occupied by grains – 3 million tonnes (more 13% from November 2022), mineral construction materials – 3 million tonnes (more 61.8%), iron and manganese ore – 3 million tonnes (more .5 times), coal – 2 million tonnes (7.7% less).
At the same time, 2.4 million tonnes of grain were exported by rail in November, which is 13% more than in November 2022 and 40.4% more than in October 2023.
The company also reported that grain transportation towards seaports in November amounted to 1.7 million tonnes, which is 1.7 times more than in the previous month. At the same time, transportation through land border crossings decreased by 4.2% – to 720,000 tonnes.
