KYIV. May 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak has said that there are “clear steps” from UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak – training of Ukrainian pilots on western aircraft and supplies of weapons and attack drones.
“Today I am in the UK together with the president. Our team is working on the strengthening of the defense assistance and Euro-Atlantic integration. We realize that we have no time to ‘drive’ our specific issues – they must ‘fly’. We can already see clear steps from the UK prime minister: the future training of our pilots on western aircraft, supplies of weapons and attack drones,” he said on the Telegram channel on Monday.
Yermak also said that Ukrainian diplomacy vector is directed at the priority issue of security which consists of superiority on the ground that will allow to return the occupied territories and “domination” in the sky that will allow to deprive the enemy of the possibility to use aircraft and attack from the air, as well as clear guarantees of security and accession to NATO.
“We are working on all of this right now. And success is possible only due to persistent and constructive diplomatic work. A strong army and the Alliance – there are no other options,” he said.
The head of the presidential office also said that “these are far from being the last security packages we receive from the allies.”
“During the diplomatic contacts of the president, really strategic geopolitical issues were discussed that will influence the entire security architecture of Europe in the future. And Ukraine will play the leading part in it,” Yermak said.
