KYIV. May 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine has managed to create a powerful format with the Nordic countries, on which its Euro-Atlantic future depends, among other things, head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak said following the visit of the Ukrainian leadership to the summit Northern Europe – Ukraine in Helsinki.
“A powerful and meaningful summit Northern Europe – Ukraine in Helsinki. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held important meetings with the leaders of Finland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Iceland. There is a really fundamental joint declaration and support for Ukraine’s accession to NATO, as well as the EU,” Yermak wrote on the Telegram.
In this regard, he noted that Ukraine has managed to create a powerful format that has been worked over for a long time.
“When we were just starting to prepare for this summit, we felt great support from the Nordic countries. This format is very important for us. It consists in cooperation with countries on whose decisions, among other things, our future Euro-Atlantic integration depends,” he wrote.
The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine also expressed confidence that Ukraine’s diplomatic efforts to unite Europe and allies around Euro-Atlantic integration will be successful.
As reported, on Wednesday, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the Northern Europe-Ukraine summit in Finland, during which he held a number of meetings with the leaders and prime ministers of Denmark, Finland, Norway, Iceland, Sweden regarding defense support for Ukraine.
