Zelenskyy calls on Belgium, the Netherlands to expedite supply of armoured vehicles, aircraft to Ukraine

KYIV. May 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on Belgium and the Netherlands to expedite the supply of armored vehicles and aircraft to Ukraine.

“We really want to get what is promised to our country as soon as possible. I call on Belgium and the Netherlands to join the early deliveries, in particular, by concluding an agreement on accelerating the supply of new weapons. We have talked with the leaders of the northern countries of Europe and other countries. They are absolutely ready for creating such a coalition for the transfer of armored vehicles. We also really need modern military aircraft,” Zelenskyy said at a press conference with the prime ministers of Belgium and the Netherlands in The Hague.

According to him, there is not a single rational justification to refuse Ukraine this.

“We must strengthen the wings of Ukraine to speed up peace,” he said.

The head of state also discussed with the prime ministers of Belgium and the Netherlands the future of Ukraine in NATO and the EU. As he said, Ukraine should legally become part of this Alliance.

“We are ready to join the further strengthening of NATO. Ukraine should legally become part of this Alliance. We want to see an algorithm of steps from partners that must be approved by a political decision at the summit in Vilnius,” Zelenskyy said, adding that Ukraine is doing everything in parallel war to implement the necessary reforms to join the EU.
