Zelenskyy discusses security guarantees, future conference on Ukraine's recovery with Japanese PM

KYIV. Nov 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed with Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida issues of cooperation in collective and bilateral formats and preparation for the Ukraine Recovery Conference planned for February 2024, which will be held in Japan, according to the website of the head of state.

“We agreed to expand our cooperation, notably our work on security guarantees and the Ukraine recovery conference in Japan next February,” Zelenskyy wrote on the social network X on Wednesday.

The Ukrainian head of state thanked Kishida for Japan’s leading role in supporting Ukraine during its G7 presidency and welcomed the statement by the G7 foreign ministers reaffirming their unwavering support for Ukraine.

“I am particularly grateful to Japan for its substantial energy aid, which includes powerful turbines and transformers, as well as the resumption of JICA office activities in Kyiv. We discussed further macro-financial support for Ukraine and our work to advance the Peace Formula. I also invited Prime Minister Kishida to the upcoming second Grain from Ukraine summit,” Zelenskyy added.

The interlocutors discussed further macro-financial support for Ukraine.

The head of state noted the active role of Japan in the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula and thanked for the participation of the Japanese representative in the third meeting of national security advisers and foreign policy advisers regarding the implementation of the points of the Formula and the principles of restoring peace in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy invited Japan to join the second international summit of the Grain from Ukraine program.
