KYIV. May 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy invited political leaders and public figures to visit Ukraine and talk to people.
“I would like to invite the political leaders of Italy, public figures to visit Ukraine and talk to people. When you see with your own eyes what is happening there and what one person, Putin, has done there, everyone will finally understand why we are so opposed to evil. We are just fighting for life,” he said at a briefing in Rome on Saturday after talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
“We discussed security cooperation, military cooperation and there are important decisions to protect our skies,” he also said.
Zelenskyy once again emphasized the importance of the Ukrainian peace formula. “One of its points is the return of all those who are in captivity, all children, adults who were deported to the territory of the Russian Federation,” he said, noting that thousands of Ukrainian children were taken to the territory of the aggressor. “It is known for certain about 19,393 children. This is specific. With names, surnames, where they were taken. The real number can be much higher,” the president said. According to him, in total, about 200,000 children lived in the territories occupied by Russia.
Zelenskyy noted that Italy strengthened its energy independence. “This makes it impossible for the terrorist state to put pressure on you. You are great,” he said.
Speaking about the NATO summit, Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine expects it to “determine the algorithm for Ukraine’s accession to the Alliance, a clear understanding of security guarantees before joining NATO.”
“More security, more cooperation, more opportunities to bring peace back,” the Ukrainian president stressed.
