By KYIV. May 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed confidence that “the Ukrainian Peace Formula can become the German peace formula, the European peace formula – the World peace formula.”
“The only one who does not perceive it is the aggressor. And that is precisely why he does not perceive that he is an aggressor,” he said, speaking on Sunday at the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen award ceremony.
“Russia is not interested in the world. There were hundreds of rounds of negotiations between 2014 and 2022 in various formats with Russia after its occupation of our Crimea peninsula and inciting a hybrid war against Ukraine in Donbas. And you, Olaf, Mr. Chancellor, and our ally, Mr. French President Emanuel Macron, and other conscientious leaders of the world have spent hours and hours talking with Putin, trying to avert disaster. But he chose disaster,” Zelenskyy said.
“Putin is a disaster. Putin is aggression – he does not want anything else for himself and his people. His formula was death. How to talk to it [death]? Throughout its long history, mankind has not yet known anyone who could negotiate with death. The one who brought death, the one who embarked on the path of genocide, the one who wants to destroy Europe, which we value, must ask for mercy, and our answer must be a tribunal,” the president said.
According to him, “it is time to fix such strength of our unity by the decision on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. You know that Europe cannot be perfect without Ukraine in the European Union. I thank you Olaf, thank you to every leader in Europe who keeps the European project going.”
“There is no rational reason why our warriors, who fight so heroically and successfully for our common freedom, are still not in the same organization with all other NATO soldiers. Judging by the results of our actions, Ukraine is already in the alliance, but a de jure decision has not yet been made. This decision should be made, it is worth defining an algorithm,” Zelenskyy said.
“NATO flags next to the flags of Ukraine on our eastern border will be the castle that will keep Russian imperialism in the past – forever. In the past, which cannot be returned, because without control over Ukraine, Russian imperialism perishes,” he said.
