KYIV. May 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Diia application, which allows receiving public services online, is installed on 70% of Ukrainian smartphones, and the audience of the app’s users is 19 million people, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technology, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said at the Diia in DC event in Washington.
“You have biometric data, all this is compared with a real-time demographic register. And this leads to the fact that Diia is a product where everyone can check a document using a phone camera,” Fedorov said.
At the end of March, Mstislav Banik, the head of electronic services development at the Ministry of Digital Transformation, said that the number of unique users of Diia since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia has increased by about 2.85 million, or 18%, to 18.6 million, which is more than half of the total adult population of Ukraine.
As Fedorov said, Diia provides 29 services and the ability to issue 14 digital documents.
In particular, the Digital Signature service in Diia is installed by more than 6.8 million users and has been applied more than 11 million times.
Some 1.2 million entrepreneurs declared their taxes in Diia, having paid UAH 1.2 billion in taxes. There are 530 companies registered under Diia.City tax regime that paid approximately $100 million in taxes in 2022, he added.
According to him, 12.6 million voting on various issues were held. “Another opportunity to use these services is to express your opinion on the proposed bill. We talked with people, talked about how people could vote for the bill,” the deputy prime minister said.
He added that with the help of Diia, more than 14.8 million sick leave certificates were issued.
In addition, 947 families received loans worth UAH 1.2 billion under preferential mortgages for the military, doctors, teachers, and scientists.
Also, 376,550 applications for destroyed housing and 12,271 applications for financial assistance were submitted.
Also, 9.2 million people have received COVID-19 e-certificates. They received 9.2 billion payments (UAH 1,000 per person) used to buy railway tickets, books, cinema tickets, concerts, theater tickets, pay utility bills, and buy stationery and school supplies. “During COVID-19, Diia made it possible to introduce services to support enterprises. And this helped to give UAH 1,000 to the bank account of vaccinated people who could use these funds only for those services that we wanted to support. And this removed the problem of corruption,” Fedorov said.
The Diia in DC event was organized in cooperation with USAID and the Ministry of Digital Transformation with the support of the Eurasia Foundation, UKAid, Visa, and Google.org Employment Opportunities with Diia.Osvita.
