Environmental damage caused by Russian attacks on military facilities exceeds UAH 305 bln – Defense Ministry

KYIV. July 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The environmental damage caused by Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian military facilities is estimated at more than UAH 305 billion, Head of the Environmental Safety and Mine Action Department of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine Ruslan Berehulia has said.

“The declared environmental damage level is not final and may increase of Russia continues to implement its armed terror policy,” he told a press briefing at the Military Media Center.

Berehulia also said that 55 military facilities where cases of environmental damage had been recorded where examined with the aim of estimating the scale of environmental damage.

Russia’s aggression against Ukraine “can be considered the first in this century case of targeted ecocide during the war,” he said.
