Ukrzaliznytsia to receive $25 mln from World Bank through UNOPS to repair critical infrastructure, increase cargo capacity

KYIV. May 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – JSC Ukrzaliznytsia has received $25 million in World Bank funding to repair critical infrastructure and increase cargo transportation capacity through UNOPS, according to the organization’s official Twitter.

“UNOPS signed $25 million agreement with Ukrainian Railways to secure equipment for repairs to critical rail infrastructure and increase cargo capacity with the World Bank funding. One more step towards Ukraine’s recovery,” UNOPS said.

Tim Lardner, Director of the UNOPS Office in Ukraine, wrote on his Twitter that he looks forward to working as part of the UN Ukraine family and supporting Ukrzaliznytsia. “A great step forward to support the process of rebuilding Ukraine,” he said.

UNOPS is a division of the United Nations and the organization’s main tool in the field of procurement and contract management in civil engineering and infrastructure development projects.
