CHISINAU. Sept 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The price of gas supplied by Russia’s Gazprom to Moldova will be $568.82 per thousand cubic meters in September, Vadim Ceban, CEO of JSC Moldovagaz, said on Telegram.
This is 8% more than the $527.68 at which Russian gas was supplied to Moldova in August.
“All of the gas from the Russian supplier will be used for the needs of LLC Tiraspoltransgaz,” Ceban said.
The price of gas for Moldova is based on an oil basket, as well as a front month exchange index. The proportions of the oil basket and index change depending on the time of year.
Moldova itself has not been using gas supplied by Gazprom since the end of 2022. All the gas goes to the Moldavskaya GRES or MGRES power plant in Transdniestria, which generates electricity for both Transdniestria and Moldova. The contract for the supply of electricity between the Moldovan state enterprise Enerogocom and MGRES is valid until October 2023.
