KYIV. Sept 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Nuclear power plants produced 19% more electricity than forecast in June-August 2023, the state-owned enterprise National Nuclear Generating Company Energoatom reported on its Telegram channel on Wednesday.
“In total, in the summer of 2023, Energoatom produced 9.7 billion kWh, as a result of which it exceeded the forecast electricity production from nuclear power plants by more than 1.5 billion kWh,” the company said.
As Energoatom explained, this made it possible to sufficiently cover the needs of consumers and prevent a possible shortage of electricity due to failure to meet the forecast electricity generation by thermal power plants of almost 940 billion kWh in the summer.
“Despite NPC Ukrenergo’s calculations that electricity production would reduce and there will be its significant deficit due to the repair campaign, no actual imbalance arose during the summer period,” Energoatom said.
In general, since the beginning of 2023, Energoatom has produced 4.2 billion kWh of electricity more than its target.
