Finland bans entry for vehicles with Russian license plates from Sept 16 – Foreign Ministry

HELSINKI. Sept 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Finland will ban entry for vehicles with Russian license plates from September 16, the Finnish Yle television and radio broadcaster said on Friday, citing Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen.

“Following Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, Finland is banning entry for vehicles with Russian license plates. The ban will take effect on September 16,” Yle quoted Valtonen as saying.

There will be some exceptions, she said, but did not say what they were.

Yle said earlier on Friday, citing its sources, that “vehicles with Russian license plates which can carry less than ten passengers will no longer be able to cross the border.”
