US House of Representatives speaker not to support request for single aid package for Israel, Ukraine – media

KYIV. Oct 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Mike Johnson, the elected new speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, told Fox News that funding for Ukraine and Israel should be carried out separately.

Johnson made it clear that he would not support the White House’s request for a single $106 billion aid package for Ukraine and Israel, the media said.

According to him, he told White House staff at a meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden that “our consensus among House Republicans is we need to bifurcate these issues.”

The speaker said legislators would like to receive reports on the funds spent, as well as information about the administration’s future plans regarding Ukraine.
