KYIV. Oct 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – JSC Ukrzaliznytsia sent more than 10 intermodal trains to the Polish ports of Gdansk and Gdynia, Deputy Director of the Commercial Work Department of Ukrzaliznytsia Valeriy Tkachev said at a meeting with grain market participants on Thursday.
“The containers were mainly used to transport grain cargo and grinding products. Transportation was carried out as part of the Intermodal Train service. Such trains follow a strict schedule and have a convenient connection at the Ukrainian-Polish border,” he said.
According to his information, trains departed from the stations Odesa-Liski, Dnipro-Liski and Vinnytsia. The operator of transportation across the territory of Ukraine was the branch of the Transport Service Center Liski of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, Poland – UZ Cargo Poland.
Ukrzaliznytsia also reported that it is considering the possibility of launching a train from Kyiv, as well as from other stations, if the shipper orders the service regularly.
