KYIV. Oct 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Canada has introduced a new temporary migration program allowing Ukrainians who are close relatives of Canadians to obtain permanent residence in the country, the Canadian government reports.
“We’ve put a temporary public policy in place to help families affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine reunite in Canada. This policy lets certain Ukrainian foreign nationals in Canada and their family members apply for permanent residence,” according to a message on the official website of the Government of Canada.
As reported, applications for participation in it are open from October 23. Ukrainian citizens whose close relatives have Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status will be able to take advantage of this program. Close relatives are considered to be children, parents, grandparents, spouses, and brothers and sisters.
Family members can live both in Canada and outside of it.
