KYIV. Oct 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) on Tuesday, October 31, decided to complete the pretrial investigation into the case against MP of Ukraine Liudmyla Marchenko and her assistant, suspected of abuse of influence.
“NABU detectives, on behalf of the SAPO prosecutor, opened the case materials for the defense to review,” the SAPO press service reported.
As part of the pretrial investigation, it was established that the MP, together with her assistant, for a monetary reward, promised citizens to ensure that authorized persons of the regional military administration make a decision on permission to travel outside of Ukraine, as well as enter the relevant information into the Shlyakh Information System.
At this time, two episodes of illegal activities of the MP and her assistant have been established, namely receiving $11,300 from two citizens for unhindered border crossing.
As reported, on July 11, 2023, law enforcement officers informed Marchenko of suspicion of abuse of influence to the current MP. At the same time, a NABU detective handed a notice of suspicion to the MP’s assistant. The actions of the MP and her assistant are qualified under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
On July 12, Marchenko was expelled from the Servant of the People party, as well as from the parliamentary faction.
