National project to popularize English language Future Perfect starting in Ukraine – Ministry of Culture

KYIV. Nov 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A national project to popularize the English language, Future Perfect, is starting in Ukraine, the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine reports.

“The Future Perfect project is designed to officially make English the language of international communication in Ukraine, to open up new opportunities for every Ukrainian for profession and personal development, to help compete in the global market and earn high salaries,” the statement says.

The language program will be coordinated by the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Culture.

According to the message, the Future Perfect language program will help expand the use of English in public spheres of life and will stimulate language learning for each of the groups: teachers, civil servants, entrepreneurs, citizens and local governments. The Future Perfect program also provides products and services that will help you learn English in convenient and accessible formats.

‘The first of them are Empower and Promova. A platform for learning languages with a personalized approach, Promova offers Ukrainians Premium access to all language courses for three years. And the online platform for learning English Empower from the University of Cambridge is available to Ukrainian teachers and students,” the message says.

Among other things, it is noted that the functioning of English as a language of international communication in Ukraine should be regulated at the state level.

“Therefore, the Ministry, in collaboration with other departments, has developed a corresponding draft law that will expand the scope of application of the English language and create conditions for its mastery… When developing the law, first of all, the task was to establish motivational factors that encourage civil servants to learn English. The legislation does not put forward requirements to learn a language immediately, we recognize that this takes time, which is why the law sets deadlines for all requirements. In addition, almost the first phrase in the bill is that it does not limit the scope of use of the Ukrainian language,” Acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy Rostyslav Karandeev noted.
