HACC Appeals Chamber rules to keep ex-head of Supreme Court Kniazev in custody with alternative of posting UAH 35 mln bail

KYIV. Nov 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine (HACC) has upheld the ruling of the HACC on the extension of the period of custody with an alternative of posting bail in the amount of UAH 35 million for former President of the Supreme Court of Ukraine Vsevolod Kniazev who was exposed of corruption.

“On November 2, 2023, the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine considered an appeal filed by the defense against the ruling of an the investigating judge of the HACC, dated October 11, 2023, to extend the period of custody with an alternative of posing a UAH 35 million bail for the former head of the Supreme Court,” the Appeals Chamber said on the court’s website on Thursday.

As reported, on October 13, the HACC proposed to extend Kniazev’s custody by two months and reduced the amount of bail from UAH 45 million to UAH 35 million.

On October 3, the anti-corruption agencies completed the pre-trial investigation into the case against Kniazev who is suspected of having received illegal benefit on an especially large scale.
