Growth in milk production in 2023 may reach 5-7% – Ministry of Agrarian Policy

KYIV. Nov 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In Ukraine, there is a steady trend towards an increase in the productivity of milk production from agricultural enterprises, which, due to war conditions, in 2022 increased by 3% compared to 2021, and in the current season may increase by another 5-7%, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Taras Vysotsky has reported.

“Even during the war, milk yield in 2022 increased by 3% compared to 2021. In 2023, growth could reach 5-7%. This means that dairy companies steadily continue to invest in advanced technologies, which instills confidence in the development of the dairy industry in Ukraine,” the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food quoted his speech at the XV International Dairy Congress.

According to Vysotsky, over the past decade, milk production has increased by more than 20%. There is a great prospect of increasing milk production both for domestic consumption and for export.

The Deputy Minister also noted the reduction in the number of cattle in the country as a whole. The government target program for the development of livestock farming for 10 years, developed and planned for adoption in 2024, will help solve this problem.
