Ukraine, despite Russian full-scale aggression, to continue to implement all reforms – Shmyhal with von der Leyen

KYIV. Nov 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine is counting on “a positive conclusion on the implementation of seven recommendations and the start of pre-entry negotiations” on membership in the European Union, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said at a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

“I am glad to welcome the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in Kyiv on the eve of the adoption of important political decisions that Ukrainian society expects. We look forward to a positive conclusion on the implementation of seven recommendations and the beginning of pre-entry negotiations,” he wrote on the Telegram channel on Saturday.

Shmyhal expressed hope that Ukraine would become a member of the European Union in the near future. “For our part, despite Russia’s full-scale aggression, we continue to implement all reforms. Thank you for your high assessment of these steps,” he said.

According to the prime minister, during the meeting they discussed financial support for Ukraine. “We value our joint work on the Ukraine Facility. This is an important document for the development of our state and transformation into a successful European country.”

Separately, the Prime Minister of Ukraine thanked Mrs. von der Leyen “for her personal contribution to our cooperation, as well as to the creation of solidarity lanes that help the Ukrainian economy function in difficult military conditions.”
