Ukraine Energy Support Fund already exceeding EUR 300 mln – Haluschenko

KYIV. Nov 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The volume of the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, created in the spring of 2022 to accumulate contributions from governments, international financial organizations, and private donors, has already exceeded EUR 300 million, Energy Minister of Ukraine Herman Haluschenko said.

“We are already reaching more than EUR 300 million in this Fund specifically to support the energy sector, and they are being spent on purchasing equipment for all energy companies,” he said on the air of the national telethon on Friday, November 3, in the evening.

The minister also said that, at the expense of the Fund, equipment reserves for energy companies are formed, among other things.

As reported, at the end of October, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) announced a contribution of EUR 54.3 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. The Energy Ministry noted that the funds will be provided as part of the expansion of the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership for the purchase of energy equipment necessary for the restoration and repairs of Ukrainian energy facilities.

The day before, the Energy Ministry noted that Germany made the largest contribution – about EUR 130 million – to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.

In mid-October, European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson announced the European Commission’s grant contribution to this Fund in the amount of more than EUR 50 million.

As of mid-July of this year, the volume of the Fund was about $220 million and by the end of the year it was expected to increase to $300 million.
