By KYIV. Nov 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The State Energy Efficiency Agency, together with Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration and the regional council, opened the first regional office of de-carbonization and energy efficiency in Ukraine, the agency has reported.
As noted in its press release, the principles of mutually beneficial cooperation were enshrined in the corresponding memorandum.
“By uniting, we are able to achieve real results for the sake of energy-efficient life of communities. With all the advantages: budget savings, comfortable schools and hospitals, new jobs, competitive business… The office of de-carbonization and energy efficiency will become a platform for cooperation,” the head of the agency Hanna Zamazeeva said at the opening office.
According to her, the creation of such offices is planned in other regions.
“All decisions on energy efficiency are made in communities, so local government plays the most important role in this. And what is very important in the further restoration of the country: green energy is part of the competitiveness of the community, an opportunity to attract investment and business,” Chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council Mykola Lukashuk said.
According to him, the parties will cooperate in the following main areas: energy management (implementation of energy management systems, development of a local energy plan, energy certification of buildings, energy audits), creation of an “energy safety net” for the region (identification and use of the potential for substitution of traditional fuels, alternative heat supply, highly efficient cogeneration, biogas and biomethane production), attracting financial resources for energy efficient transformation of regions, as well as education and popularization in the direction of energy efficiency.
